I remember returning to Dovercourt on one of my infrequent leave days in the Royal Marines just after the war and finding Daphne working at a local bakery. I don't recall what all her duties were but the one she enjoyed the most was driving a small electric van. On those visits I always found her in a very happy state, being very outgoing and having fun with her workmates and completely carefree. It is a memory I cherish.
